9 Maintenance and fault rectiﬁcation

9.1 Maintain

When the instrument is used properly, no special maintenance is

required in normal operation.

In some applications, product buildup on the separating diaphragms

can inﬂuence the measuring result. Depending on the sensor and

application, take precautions to ensure that heavy buildup, and

especially a hardening thereof, is avoided.

9.2 Rectify malfunctions

The operator of the system is responsible for taking suitable measures

to rectify malfunctions.

DPT10 oﬀers maximum reliability. Nevertheless, faults can occur

during operation. These may be caused by the following, e.g.:

l Sensor

l Process

l Voltage supply

l Signal processing

The ﬁrst measures to be taken are to check the output signals as well

as to evaluate the error messages via the indicating and adjustment

module. The procedure is described below. Further comprehensive

diagnostics can be carried out on a PC with the software PACTware

and the suitable DTM. In many cases, the causes can be determined

this way and faults rectiﬁed.

? When an additional instrument is connected, the H1 segment fails.

l Max. supply current of the segment coupler exceeded

à Measure the current consumption, reduce size of segment

? Measured value on the indicating and adjustment module does not

correspond to the value in the PLC

l The menu item "Display - Display value" is not set to "AI-Out"

à Check values and correct, if necessary

? Instrument does not appear during connection setup

l Incorrect termination

à Check termination at the beginning and end points of the bus

and terminate, if necessary, according to the speciﬁcation

l Instrument not connected to the segment

à Check and correct
